Hyung “Sean” Dokko is a managing director in the Commercial practice of the New York City office.
Sean advises multinational clients on a broad range of U.S. international tax matters, with particular focus on technology, software, and SaaS companies navigating cross-border complexity. His technical expertise includes CFC anti-deferral rules, Section 987 foreign currency issues, PFICs, cross-border M&A, and inbound and outbound structuring, as well as inbound matters including FIRPTA, withholding, U.S. trade or business determinations, permanent establishment, and treaty analysis. He also advises on the U.S. tax compliance and international reporting obligations that arise from these areas.
Before joining Andersen, Sean served as an international tax partner at a national professional services firm and spent several years in a National Tax Office focused on complex technical international tax matters, a background that combines technical knowledge with practical client-facing experience.
