Marilyn Calister has over 23 years of experience in individual income tax and complex family wealth planning. She works with a variety of closely held, family-owned businesses to maximize family capital preservation and minimize estate and income taxes. She has extensive experience with S corporations, partnerships, gift, estate, trust, and individual taxation. Marilyn coordinates the activities of Andersen's tax, accounting, and financial planning professionals in servicing high-net-worth families and their family-owned businesses.
Marilyn's expertise includes family office services and high net worth individual tax controversies support, including:
- Representation before the IRS, as well as state and local tax authorities
- Responding to information document requests
- Preparation of tax protests to IRS appeals
- Mediation support
Before joining Andersen, Marilyn was a tax partner at Arthur Andersen, where, as part of a national initiative, she was a member of an elite group who worked closely with the firm’s Family Wealth Planning Specialty Team to meet the special tax and estate planning needs of ultra-high-net-worth families. Marilyn is also a former New York City high school teacher.
