Leo Martinez is a managing director in the US National Tax practice at Andersen, with more than 43 years of experience in federal income taxation, federal tax procedure, tax theory and policy, insurance law, and contracts.

Prior to joining Andersen, Leo served as the Albert Abramson Professor of Law and dean at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. He has lectured at more than 25 law schools worldwide and is the author of dozens of articles, as well as co-editor of two books on insurance law.

Leo has held senior leadership roles with the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools. He has also served as board chair of several organizations focused on public impact, including KQED Inc., Public Media Company, and Public Media Venture Group.

Leo was the 2024 recipient of the American Bar Association’s Kutak Award, presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to collaboration between the bar and the legal academy. He also received the Visionary Award from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco Board of Directors in 2018, and the Voices of Conscience Award from Public Advocates Inc. in 2011.
